June has been a strong month for metal so far. Here are six albums that have stuck with me.

Via Doloris – Guerre et Paix
Solo project from Oslo, Frost of 1349 and Satyricon on drums. Dark, atmospheric black metal with a folk edge. The drumming alone is worth your time.

Revolting – Supernatural Anthems
Straight up Swedish death metal. No reinventing the wheel, but it doesn't need to. Raw riffs, horror atmosphere and enough melodic hooks to stick.

Dissentient – Black Galactic
Progressive and technical death metal from Ottawa. The cosmic side of this album gives it a whole different dimension. "Black Galactic, Black Galactic" — that chant doesn't leave your head.

Crocell – Swarm of Insects
Danish black/death metal. Solid sound, dark vocals, strong moments — but also stretches that are a little too easy to forget. "Traitors' Blood" is the standout.

Sinamort – Breathing Cargo (Radar Pick)
Never heard of them before — the algorithm sent me here. Progressive doom/death metal from Lithuania. Strong vocals, rhythmic and technical. This one surprised me. Worth checking out.

Fires in the Distance – Circadian Promise (Review Saturday)
This one hit me hard. More on Saturday. 🤘

  Three Days, 24 Bands and a Completely Wrecked Festival Weekend This weekend was exactly what festivals are supposed to be — long days, aching feet, little sleep, loud music, sore backs and massive concert experiences. Over three days I caught 24 bands, ranging from black metal and melodic death metal to progressive metal, hard rock and a few things that just didn't land for me at all. Some concerts were unforgettable. Some disappointed. Some surprised me completely. But overall, this was exactly the chaotic and memorable festival weekend I was hoping for. Musically, the album sits firmly within melodic blackened death metal .  Zero Gravity - My Jeffrey Dahmer I recently received a very friendly request from the band Zero Gravity to review their latest single, and I was happy to give it a listen. From Innsbruck, Tyrol, Zero Gravity is a band that thrives on unpredictability. Formed by Dionys Dorner (vocals, guitar) and Daniel Berger (drums) in their teens, and joined by Christian Hubmann (bass, vocals), the trio has carved out a path defined by bold experimentation and a refusal to be boxed into a single genre.
