As I was laying on the beach in Spain, Novembre suddenly popped up in my head.I then realized I had never given Words of Indigo a proper listen. So I did. And I am glad for it.

The guitars are really good throughout this album, carrying a lot of the melodies and atmosphere that make Novembre sound like Novembre. There is a heavy sense of melancholy atmosphere hanging over the whole record, and the production brings that out in a strong way. Dark, warm and detailed without losing the heaviness.

The drums are a huge strength here. Full of darkness, blast beats and small details that give the songs more weight when they need it. This is a progressive and melodic doom metal album, but it never feels slow for the sake of being slow. There is always something happening.

My main issue is still the clean vocals. They are a big part of the album’s sound, and at times they do not fully work for me, there is something disturbing them, atleast for me.

The songs are long and demand patience,this is not an album that gives you everything on the first spin. But give it time and there is a lot to take in.

My standout tracks are "House of Rain" and "Chiesa dell'Alba." "House of Rain" especially ,the female vocals on that track are absolutely fantastic, it hits in everyway possible.

Novembre are veterans within this genre and they still know exactly what they are doing. Words of Indigo is worth your time.

Dissentient – Black Galactic Review: Progressive Death Metal from Canada (2026)

First impression was good, but the more I hear it, the more details show up. The cosmic side of the album especially gives it another vibe even a bigger picture.
